Aimee and Tom

I love wedding traditions! Pittsburgh is a melting pot of cultures and we see many different wedding traditions and ceremonies. Aimee and Tom's beautiful wedding was a mixture of Filipino and Polish traditions, with guests traveling from half way around the world to celebrate their marriage. Their wedding was so much fun!

With a large Polish community, we're all familiar with Polish wedding traditions - the money dance, polka dancing, the groom breaking through the circle to get reach the bride, and less often, the sharing of bread, salt, and wine and the baboshka ceremony.

My associate Joel, who now works with us from Jacksonville, first introduced me to the Filipino fascinating culture and traditions. Their weddings are absolutely beautiful, with colorful fabrics and details. And, they're a warm, fun, and outgoing people.

In Filipino tradition, the bride and groom have many sponsors, with men wearing traditional barong. Along with the cord and veil ceremony, celebrating the bride and groom's eternal bond, the groom gives the bride 13 coins, blessed by the priest, for a life of faithfulness and prosperity.

Aimee and Tom's reception was held at Shakespeare's in Ellwood City at The Olde Stonewall Golf Club. It's a beautiful location and it's become very popular for weddings.
