Carolyn and Kyle Engagement Session

Carolyn and Kyle live in the Southside and wanted their engagement session to reflect some of the spots they enjoy – from The Southside Works to the 18th Street river access. Barb and I really had a great time with them at their session and are really looking forward to their wedding day next Saturday!

Kate and Jimmy – Engagement Session

Wow, what happened to late fall and December in Pittsburgh with that mix of balmy days with an early chill?

It just seem like a few days ago when Barb and I photographed Kate and Jimmy’s engagement session around Kate’s home – an amazing vista overlooking the Laurel Mountain Valley. Most of the leaves had already fallen but there was beautiful color and light.

We’re really looking forward to their winter wedding at the Rolling Rock Club, the planning of which is in the very capable hands of Sheila Weiner at The Event Group. More to come soon…..

Shannon and Vernon Engagement

Barb and I had a blast with Shannon and Vernon at their engagement session and we’re really looking forward to their wedding in a couple of weeks.

Their ceremony will be at Heinz Chapel with a reception following at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association. Katherine Shaw at Trends to Traditions is helping them plan their event with an old Hollywood theme. I know it’s going to be awesome.

Shannon will be getting ready at The Mansion at Maple Heights, which is on our list for a quick in-town getaway. It looks very cool.

We can’t wait for wedding day!!

Brooke and Nate

As promised, here’s the result of Brooke and Nate’s engagement session at Kennywood – much thanks to Jeff in Client Relations for all the help and cooperation.

Engagement Session – Kennywood

It’s always inspiring to photograph in a new place and while I’ve been going to Kennywood since I’ve been a kid (one of Brooke and Nate’s favorite hangouts) and have walked around with a camera, I’ve never photographed an engagement session there. There are an infinite number of great spots.

Barb and I were shocked at how busy it was this past Sunday, what with the Steeler game (better to have gone to Kennywood). It took about 20 or 30 exposures to get this shot in between people coming and leaving – OK NOW!

I’ll share more, once all of their photographs are ready (I did share this one with Brooke and Nate from the back of the camera).

Brooke and Nate will be getting married next June with a ceremony at Heinz Chapel and a reception at The Carnegie Museum’s Music Hall Foyer. We can’t wait!

Cecily and Mike

Cecily and Mike used to live and spend a lot of in the South Side, so it was a natural spot for their engagement session. We had a great time just wandering around, chatting and then a quick drive up to Mt. Washington for some beautiful light at dusk. They’ll be getting married next August at St. Paul’s Cathedral with a reception at the Carnegie Museum Music Hall Foyer.

Candace and Matt – Engagement

I have such a cool job. Every year we have the honor of meeting a new group of couples, along with their families and friends and sharing the beginning of their new life together.

Candace and Matt are such a fun loving couple – we had a great time playing around at the North Shore near Heinz Field. Maybe one day we can make Matt a Steeler’s fan – nah probably not, but a little friendly competition from the other side of the state is a good thing.

Barb and I are really looking forward to wedding day in September – we understand that we’ll have an animated group of friends and family. We’ll have a lot of fun.

Melissa and Ryan

Wedding season has kicked into high gear and Barb and I are looking forward to another great year! I’ve been a little errant with my engagement and wedding blog posts, but I’ll be catching up soon. I’m working on Melissa and Ryan’s guest album today – here’s the photographs they selected for their album.

Barb and I had such a blast hanging around the South Side Works with Melissa and Ryan and we’re very excited for their wedding at Nevillewood on June 27th.

Megan and Andy Engagement

Many of our clients live out of town, with the Washington, DC area as the most represented. It’s usually a whirlwind weekend of wedding planning for out clients when they’re in town for a visit and we always try to squeeze in their engagement session in between meetings.

And it never fails that it’s either snowing, raining, blasting heat, blazing noon sun or in the case of Megan and Andy’s session, freezing cold – about 25 degrees.

Station square was a great location where we could spend a few minutes outside, put down the winter coats, take a few quick pictures and then run into a building and get warm.

Barb and I had so much fun with Megan and Andy. It was the first time we had met, so it always takes a few minutes to get cozy and comfortable.

Megan and Andy will be getting married this August in the Carnegie Museum’s Hall of Architecture with a reception following in the Music Hall Foyer. We can’t wait!

Melissa and Anthony Engagement

Barb and I love engagement sessions. It’s a great way to get to know one another and it makes wedding day so much more relaxed, especially since we hadn’t met Melissa and Anthony before booking their wedding.

It takes a short while for our couples to relax and also for me to get a feel for their personality and interests. After a few shots we all start having fun, trying different things and goofing around. Barb and I had so much fun with Melissa and Anthony – they’re so nice.

We had planned an outdoor session, but it was pretty frigid and Melissa was under the weather, so with special permission from The Reniassance Pittsburgh hotel, we were able to find some cool spots inside with just a quick dash around the corner at the end of the session and a trip to Klavons for some ice cream – awesome!

Like most local venues, the Renaissance requires a security fee and contract to photograph inside. It’s an absolutely beautiful hotel with unbelievable service if you’re still looking for a wedding venue. Tony Lee, the director of special events is fanatastic to work with. I guess you can tell it’s one of my favorite locations.

Melissa and Anthony are getting married in May at Heinz Chapel with a reception following at The Carnegie Music Hall Foyer.
