Barb and I got our start in the photography business, specializing in hand-painted black and photographs using a centuries old technique with artist oils. It was a lot of fun, but very time consuming.

I’m a pastel painter, but haven’t picked up any chalk in a few years – we’ve just been too busy.

We’ve always wanted to find the time to get back to our roots and do some painting. There’s a program that was developed by Corel called “Painter” which simulates the painting process electronically. While you don’t have the same tactile feeling that you have with a brush, charcoal or chalk, it has amazing capabilities.

Somewhat like Vermeer’s camera obscura, photographs can be the inspiration for a painting.

Barb had the opportunity of taking a week-long class taught by a world renowned artist and Painter expert Jeremy Sutton. She was inspired and seeing her work inspired me to dabble.
