We just returned from a 7 day cruise on the Carnival Valor to the western Caribbean – a much needed vacation, our first real vacation in 3 years.
This was our first cruise and I think everyone agrees, the best vacation we’ve ever had. It was so much fun – really relaxing and educational. Oh, and so much food – it’s going to take a while to work off those extra pounds.
While we missed probably the most “touristy” location – Grand Cayman due to high seas, we were happy that the port of calls were somewhat off the normal beaten path.
We visited Roatan Island in Honduras, Belize and Costa Maya, Mexico. These are very poor areas who survive on tourist dollars. We met some wonderful people and it was a real education for the kids who have a hard time imagining life without the mall, TV, the Internet and cell phones.
The ship was so cool – so many things to do from swimming, sunning, an amazing spa, workout room, great shows, a casino, tons of clubs and great food. Oh and did I say food – 24 hour pizza was a big hit.

We hit the spa and workout club every day but didn’t quite burn off enough calories
The spa was first class with great treatments and massage – Barb and I did the teeth whitening treatment.
Great Shows including a show at every dinner.

If you want to check out a little highlight slideshow of our trip….. I decided not to lug our professional cameras along. All of these photographs were taken with my little Fuji point and shoot. We can’t wait for our next cruise!!
