“There is no such thing as a perfect photograph, there is only a perfect moment” Joe Buissink
I love that quote which I think describes contemporary wedding photography and I how I try to approach every wedding.
I was shoveling the driveway this morning with a warm and fuzzy feeling, basking in last night’s wedding, thinking about all of the special moments of Elissa and Gusty’s day and how truly every wedding is unique. I see so many photographers and videographers who walk into a wedding with a preconceived notion of setting up this shot or that shot and who miss the story unfolding around them.
I think there’s a place for some traditional, well done portraits on wedding day, but a series of portraits really doesn’t tell the story or convey the emotion of a couple’s wedding day. It’s those captured, split second moments in time that tell the real story.
Elissa and Gusty were married at the Immaculate Conception Church in Washington, PA with a reception in the Omni Grand Ballroom.
While we haven’t started the editing process, here are a few highlights from their day through their first dance – photographs from their same-day slideshow.
Elissa’s Reem Acra was amazing – just gorgeous! The Omni is a wonderful venue for a reception – the ballroom was beautiful. I hadn’t seen any of the floral work by Grand Victorian, but wow – they did a terrific job. Bethel Bakery always does beautiful cakes and PJ the DJ kept the crowd rocking all night. It was one of the highest energy crowds I’d seen in a while – so much fun, almost like an evening at a club in the Strip.
Congratulations guys – thanks so much for letting me share your special day.
